35/365- Evening At the Pool

Digital Art by Tracey Grumbach

“A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to save them from starving. They all have food in their own homes. When we gather together in the moonlit village ground it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so.”

Chinua Achebe, Things Fall Apart

----------

We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so. Yes, it is. Especially in this current world we live where hate and misery seem to be gaining strides to smother love and tolerance.  In the next few days, gather. Round up your beloved family and friends. Break bread together...not to save your stomachs from starving but to save your souls from being hungry. Spend time listening to one another, playing with one another, laughing together. Turn off the media. Turn of the electronics. Play a board game by candlelight. Scrabble, anyone?

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
