Ticked Off- Lyme Disease Awareness Event Thank Yous!

A few of the sour faces from the "Take a Bite Out of Lyme" challenge!

I am so humbled and overwhelmed by all the love and support over the past two Fridays. It has been a whirlwind of activity getting this spring show together, being the featured artist, and pull off this Lyme Disease Awareness Event. So many people stopped in, talked with our representatives from Harford Lyme Advocates, took the "Take a Bite Out of Lyme" challenge, donated money, bought art, and participated in our basket give away! It was wonderful to meet new people, hear their stories, and tell them mine. I saw old friends, new friends, strangers, and family! But most important of all is we are getting the word out about this terrible disease!

Special thank yous are due to Janet Jensen and the rest of the crew from Harford Lyme Advocates who supplied all the educational literature and expertise to answer questions about Lyme Disease.

Thank you to Arts By the Bay Gallery and Pat Fair (art director for the gallery) for letting us use the space to hold this event. Also, a very special thank you to the artists who came out to support the event including those who worked the desk.

A heartfelt thank you to Kimie Ranken, the amazing jeweler who took my vision for a Ticked Off necklace and made it a reality even better than what I dreamed. Despite a serious illness and being hospitalized, she, with the help of her wonderful husband, Bill, delivered the necklaces on time for the event even though I told them not to worry about it. Truly, they are amazing, loyal, and selfless people. As she moves forward with treatment for her medical issue, I offer prayers of healing. More about the necklaces later in the week...I still have some in stock to sell so I will be setting that up shortly!

A huge thank you to KWM Cares and everyone at Kelly Wealth Management who made a very generous flat donation to NatCapLyme Association.  Your gift was such a surprise and appreciated! It will be put to good use.

Most of all, thank you so much to my amazing family and friends. I could not have survived these past months with my sanity intact without you all. To my husband, who tirelessly worked on the framing of 43 pieces and has been by my side every step of the way cheering me on; my kids, who helped get supplies together and ready for the event, worked the room at the event, and told me I made them proud; and to my friends who despite having ten million other things better to do, still came out to support me and this event. I am truly blessed to have each of you in my life, I love you all,  and I owe you one ;)

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to the patrons who bought my art! It is my dream to have people connect with my art in a way that has deep meaning for them. It was such a pleasure to meet and talk with the buyers and hear why they chose the pieces they did. I will be posting the sold items up on Facebook throughout the week. You are what makes me keep working, trying new things, and producing art.

While the Ticked Off event is over, Lyme Disease Awareness Month is not. I am still collecting donations throughout the month of May and donating a portion of the profit from the sale of my art in the month of May. So, if you were not able to make the event but would like to help people like me and so many others who suffer daily from this disease, please visit Arts By the Bay Gallery in Havre de Grace where there are donation boxes until May 31. If you can't make it out to the gallery, please consider donating online using the following instructions.

1.  Go to NatCapLyme.org's donation page.
2.  Click on Fundraising Event in the tab section.
3.  In the Select Event for Fundraising dropdown menu choose the bottom one...Arts By the Bay Gallery Ticked Off Lyme Disease Awareness Event.
4.  Fill out the rest of the form and submit!

Thanks so much for any help you could give. This really is a great organization. I attend the support meetings of my local chapter and they are champions of getting the word out in Harford County and beyond.

Humility Is the Foundation of All Virtues- Baltimore Digital Artist

About this image: Remember I talked about that one day last week where the sun was actually out and I took a walk with the kids? Since then, it has been gray, dreary, dark, and downright depressing. Truthfully, this has been one of the longest stretches of dreariness I can remember. So, I have resorted to going back to that day for some inspiration, warmth, and sunshine; otherwise, I doesn't look like I will be getting any. Where I live there are so many awesome rural buildings. I love buildings that show a bit of wear and tear on the outside yet have the strength and resilience to be standing strong in the face of utter destruction. I find it inspirational in my journey for my health and rather metaphoric to remember that although on the outside, my physical body may take a beating, my soul, the foundation of my being is standing strong, weathering the storm.

Please consider heading out tonight to Havre de Grace to enjoy the opening reception of the Winter Blitz art show from 7-9PM at Arts By the Bay Gallery. I will be working but I will also have 5 pieces hanging (one of which is on the cover and featured in the upcoming issue of Somerset Digital Studio magazine), photographing the show for promotions, and I will be mingling/chatting with our guests! So, stop in for a good time and good art!  Hope to see you there!

Have a beautiful weekend. I will see you here on Monday. xo  Go Falcons! :)

Memory- Digital Art by Tracey Grumbach

Wow, do we have a lot to catch up on! I've been gone for quite a while, completely swamped in life. Many wonderful things have happened, although the process of all of that has been overwhelmingly stressful. I don't seem to be juggling stress very well these days...not sure why. I'm just a bundle of nervous energy and I am ready to feel settled again.

Professionally, I am excited to catch you up on what has been happening.  First, I am thrilled that several Instagram hubs have recently featured my art. It is always an extreme honor to have others like and share my work. Unfortunately, this has also led to an increase in people stealing my images and calling them their own. Not a stress I would like to deal with!

Second, I am thrilled to announce that the feature artwork and article I am writing for Somerset Digital Studio has been submitted and approved ahead of deadline! That was a huge relief to get off my plate. Now, I just need to wait for the editors to send me PDF proofs of the layout in mid-January before it goes to print. The magazine will hit newsstands on March 1!

I am also proud to say that one of my creations, We Are the Moon, has been featured in a Mobile Art Showcase on Flickr. I have also been invited by Joanne Carter, a well respected photographer and mobile art artist, to join a comprehensive Artist Directory of mobile/digital artists. It is quite an honor to be asked to join this list of amazing artists! I am currently working on getting all my images and biography to her now!

Also, I have been informed that I will be the Featured Artist at Arts By the Bay Gallery for the show opening in April 2017! I am so excited because the show will last through June, which means I can once again hold my fundraiser for Lyme Disease Awareness Month in May! So, be looking for more information on that coming in the months ahead!

Thank you to all who constantly support me and my art. I've sold many pieces lately and I can't describe how it feels to know you like my art enough to purchase it for your homes. It truly is a dream come true.

I am hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are staying snug and warm while preparing for the winter holidays. God bless...

Havre de Grace Photo Walk and Photography Workshop

Click here for a PDF printable version of this document to print and mail in for registration.

Registration is now open for the Havre de Grace Photo Walk and Mini-Workshop that I will be co-teaching with Jake Jechens. Jake is another photographer who shows at the same gallery I do, Arts By the Bay in Havre de Grace, MD. He specializes in amazing wildlife photography.

The photo walk will take place on November 19, 2016 from 8:30AM-Noon (Raindate on November 20). We will meet at the gallery and have a mini workshop on composition while enjoying some coffee and danish. Then, we will break into two groups and tour scenic Havre de Grace for a photo walk with hands-on guidance from myself and Jake. Then we will meet back at the gallery for a debriefing and questions. Participants, if they choose to, will be added to a closed Facebook group so we can share the pictures we took that day on our walk.

Registration can be printed out following the link to the full size PDF located below the picture. Send the form and $30.00 payment to the address indicated at the top of the registration form. OR, you can visit Arts By the Bay Gallery in person and register there. There is a limit to a class size of 30, so don't delay!

Hope to see you there! Looking forward to having a fun day full of learning and great pictures!
